suppose you are right, that assumes of course, the "politican" would like to be investigated by the BCSC for insider info charges, and have his political career ruined!

It happened a few years ago with the Premier, or some member of Parliament in BC. Something about telling family members of an impending government deal that they made a ton of money on. His life was made miserable, and he suffered the jeers and ridicule of his colleagues and was "hung out to dry" and driven out of office. The example must be fresh in the memory of those in the BC government, and after seeing what can happen, would think it's not worth the trouble.
