I have not researched the patents in any detail, but I think Gregg's viewpoint is this. Qcom has a myriad of patents that cover so many areas that it would be highly unlikely to get "knocked out" on them all. Any company that wants to utilize cdma has to license "something" major from Qcom. Even if Ericy were to win on some patents, it still would face so many others, that the "win" can only be used as leverage to negotiate a better deal from Qcom.
