Sprint's problem is two-fold in Dallas. PrimeCo negotiated easement with the cable company and so has much better coverage. Sprint has had to negotiate site licensees, so its placement is not nearly as good as PrimeCo's. Second, IMHO Sprint won't spend the money to really build out its system before it has the subscribers in order to get the cells located properly. Third, Sprint ran some really good programs early on and the demand, number of subscribers far exceeded what they anticipated; Sprint had to increase its equipment base but has never kept up with the demand. It is absolutely ludicrous to drive north on Central Expressway (the major highway from downtown to the high income area) and everytime I get to Meadow Road the call gets dropped. It's ludicrous to get to the stop light at Walnut Hill Road and Hillcrest (the top of the hill) and the calls get dropped everytime at the intersection. If I didn't use the phone so much to call Houston, Austin and San Antonio toll free, I would switch to PrimeCo which has a much higher quality cdma system, IMHO again.
