Ibexx,
I guess it really depends on how much weight you want to lug around. Sounds like you travel quite a bit. If this machine is going with you, then a laptop like the IBM Thinkpad 770 with the 14.1" screen will be quite a load. The Thinkpad 600 is a thin and wide machine with a 13.3" screen that comes with a bay for a CDROM or floppy, and weighs much less, around 5 pounds. The best travel machine from IBM is the Thinkpad 560 series, about 4 pounds with great battery life (close to 4 hours), but all drives except the hard drive are external. Sony just release a very intriguing machine called the PG-505, it's less than an inch thick, weighs about 3 pounds, and has a 10.4" screen. Battery life from what I have read is poor though, a bit more than one hour with the standard battery, you can buy a larger one for about 200 bucks. The machine itself looks to be a very elegant design.
