"iMac is a fresh approach to consumer computing, and initial orders indicate that customers really like it," said Steve Jobs, Apple's interim CEO. "We are working hard to insure that we can meet the demand."

"We've never seen this type of excitement from our customers surrounding a new PC -- they can't wait to get their hands on an iMac this weekend," said Jim Halpin, CompUSA president and CEO. "We think Apple's revolutionary iMac has the potential to become one of CompUSA's best selling consumer computers of all times."

"In my 20 years of computer retailing, I have never seen consumers place advance orders in such record volume," said Tom Jacobs, CEO and president of Computer Town. "It's causing a frenzy in the consumer market."

To generate excitement surrounding iMac's debut, Apple has been working closely with its resellers and equipping them with marketing and advertising tools, including in-store "Apple Demo Days" and a 20-station national radio promotion featuring iMac giveaways--to make this retail roll-out an unforgettable event.

Resellers including CompUSA, Microcenter, Fry's, ComputerTown, J&R, RCS Computer Experience, ComputerWare, AIS Computers and Computer Stores Northwest, Inc., as well as hundreds of Apple Specialist stores, are simultaneously launching aggressive marketing and advertising programs to drive consumers into their stores to see iMac. Tom Jacobs, CEO and president of Computer Town

"Computer Town is hitting record growth in Apple consumer business. In my 20 years of computer retailing, I have never seen consumers place advance orders in such record volume, causing such a frenzy in the consumer market. iMac's rare combination of price, performance and aesthetic appearance has everything to do with this."

Rachelle Friedman, CEO of J & R ComputerWorld

"J & R ComputerWorld has seen in the last few months a tremendous rebound in Apple sales. The amount of pre-orders of the iMac is unprecedented for any hardware product that we've ever taken advanced orders for."

Charles Tebele, CEO RCS Computer Experience

"The iMac's innovative design and attractive price point will help re- establish an Apple presence in households and businesses across the country. Consumer demand is already astronomical--it's a great time to be an Apple partner."

Paul Ramirez, VP Marketing ComputerWare "The products launching out of Apple lately, the new G3 PowerBooks and Mac OS 8, have been great for our business, but iMac will definitely be the biggest thing since 1984. We are thrilled to be a part of this historic occasion--the iMac launch."

Jimmy Garson, CEO, DataVision

"We're coming off our best Apple Quarter in history and know we can beat that record with iMac in store. Our initial customer response has been overwhelming, especially from SOHO and family computer clients. We're getting many inquires and early iMac orders, even before people have really had a chance to experience it's beauty, elegance and power. Apple really has outdone themselves this time -- raising the mark in innovation. We're looking forward to August 15 when we can 'unleash the beast'. Welcome back to the leading edge, Apple."
