Positron takeover?

On Monday, trading in Positron Fiber Systems (PFSCF) was halted all day. It appears that the company received a cash takeover offer rumored to be in the $13- to $13.50-per-share range. At the time of this writing, all I have been able to get out of the company is "an announcement is pending."

I've been aware of takeover rumors making the rounds. Positron is a small company, easily digestible by the giants of the telecommunications equipment industry. As the leader in the development of Sonet/SDH network access devices, Positron's technology would make for a nice fit with Nortel (NT), Lucent (LU), Alcatel (ALA) and other telecommunications equipment firms.

Given the lack of news today, I suspect the company was somewhat taken by surprise.
