Right on topic, imho, it relates to threats against critical posters, specifically the inherent threat made by the broadcasting of a poster's identity and location. It's well thought and well written, imho. The last few paragraphs make good points. Techies have told me that SI software is more secure than others, btw. They also have a stronger privacy policy. Brad made a statement to that effect on the 'Welcome to SI' thread some weeks ago, and for that he has my respect. These are just chat groups, these threads - no more, no less. Nothing becomes a big deal until somebody makes it a big deal. And there's nothing like a threat to do that.
