I'm not subject to too much press-for-hire paranoia, but I must admit that if ever a so-called 'article' looked like a paid put-up job, this one was it. It stunk to high heaven, using what I'm sure were highly selective quotes from the Sun guy, with the only other sources Maureen O'Gara, who makes a living finding controversy where none exists, and Microsoft idolator-droid Rob Enderle. It's real tough to guess which side of any question "Mr.-Java-has-failed-sound-bite" will come down on. Plus the level of industry expertise that the journalist projected was, well, just plain dumb. But I guess that was the idea.

As for people who doubted the article was there: it was there the entire weekend. I'm registered on TheStreet.com, and I saw it.
