RE:"Real 3D enthusiasts are a small minority. The Real Serious ones will go for the biggest fastest processor with Voodoo 2 graphics, etc - and these are high end machines - color them Intel."

Au contraire, me boy.

Just look whos publishing all these benchmarks on the net'. It's kids who like to play games. And being young...they don't have the money to overspend on Intel Pentium IIs. Needless to say, they a tickled to death to get the value of a K6-2.

"The real serious ones will go for the biggest fastest processor with Voodoo graphics"
Seems to me I saw a benchmark that stated a K6-2 running Quake 2 at 1024x768 was 37% faster that a similarly equiped Pentium II-350 and as fast or faster than a similar Pentium II 400...
So the choice is clear for the serious gamster, particularly if he wants to run higher resolution graphics. The K6-2.
One other option popular with the serious gamester is the Celeron I overclocked from 266-300 to 400MHz. Of course these chips are now under $100.
So basically...the Serious Gamester doesn't even need to look at a Pentium II.

As far as the gamesters being in a small minority. Where is your data on this. Also remember they write reviews and influence even non-gamsters.
