You know I thought there was an ulterior motive with Goldman, but when the stock price didn't take a dive, there went my loose suspicion. This article you mention has revived it.

Why would a firm that gave such a glowing review be selling covered
calls? Normally a person selling covered calls is neutral to bullish
on a stock and is happy making a fixed amount of return. In my opinion Compaq is the right stock to be selling covered calls I see nothing wrong with this.
