The timing for a down market doesn't coincide very well with the technical rebound in the inet stocks and Amazon.con in particular. The fever that the Geocities IPO creates may also spill over to others in the sector. I think there is a fair chance that Amazongonenuts.com will move up today despite all the bad news in the market - too many millions to be made by the pig investment banking brokerages. If there are hedge funds or others who are controlling the float on AMZN, they are likely to take advantage of these things to push this junk bond company up even more. The inet hype machine should be at full tilt boogie. A good opportunity will come in the next few days to sell short or sell naked calls, IMO.

On the other hand, if China devalues their currency the entire Asian market will be in turmoil as other countries follow suit. That will cause increased pain for US company's profits but will be good for consumers of foreign products - at least as long as the US doesn't slip into a recession because of it. The stock market could get blasted by these events - particularly sectors such as semi equipment and others which have large Asian exposure.
