Then again Amazon could turn the shrewdest ShopBot of all (theirs) loose on the Internet and provide one-stop shopping with a lowest-price guarantee.

Sounds good, except that they apparently don't think consumers want bots that find the lowest price, just the lowest one that will pay Amazon for a listing.

Jeff Bezos is smarter than the bears.

Why? Because he went to Princeton and managed a hedge fund? Seems to me that should frighten the bulls more than the bears. After all, he needs to create demand for the stock, not supply, to maximize his final take. He doesn't need to fool the bears, just the bulls. Besides, his resume certainly doesn't scream "hey, I should be the CEO of a giant, high-tech retailing empire", but is does whisper "psst, I know how to create demand for a stock so a few of us can get rich(er) at the expense of the investing public."

>>Nevertheles, though it is a big river, whenever their boat looks less than seaworthy, they just buy another boat and shout "Yahooo! This one will get us across!" Of course, with each swamped and broken down boat they abandon, they are farther from the opposite shore than when they bought it, but they keep telling the crew and those who financed all those boats "there are mountains of gold across this treacherous river and we will take you to it, though we can not tell you how for that is our secret and if we tell you, then others with swifter vessels will try to claim our gold - trust us for we have a plan."<<
Then again Amazon could turn the shrewdest ShopBot of all (theirs) loose on the Internet and provide one-stop shopping with a lowest-price guarantee. Take all the guesswork out. Handle all the back-office chores for these little vendors, who would ship the goods directly to the customer. One-click reigns supreme, and the mighty Amazon rolls on fed by thousands of "bountiful" tributaries.

Jeff Bezos is smarter than the bears. "

It appears the opposite of the bold is occuring
