Hey Acidman - You state this stock just keeps going down even with all the good news about moving to .18. I'll be the first one to admit this stock is in the crapper, as I am long many many shares at an average price of 36. However, the stock went up two or three out of the last four days. Your negative dribble should at least be accurate. Please? Cordially - RBlatch

You write

> So, with all this news comming out every day about how everyone is moving to .25, .18, and now .15, Cymer(the DUV leader) just keeps on going down and down. Something has to be wrong with this stock for it to trade like this. What do you think???
1) Something wrong with the company.
2) Competition(Lambda/Komatsu) are stronger than the average investor would like to think.
3) Or buy the time it takes new fabs to be built or current fabs to make money for upgrades the competition will have a strong presence.<

...or many believe Akins when he says that the turnaround won't come until the second half of 1999.

acidman, I think you do not realize that CYMI is quite strong relative to the semi sector, it is selling at 60 or PE of current year estimate (about $.26) and at 27 PE of expected next year earnings of $.60. The weakness has nothing to do with losing competitive edge, it has to do with uncertainty as to the timing of the bottom of this semi recession. I happen to be out of CYMI as of last Friday, but the decision was related to the failure to go above 19.25 on the last rally and weakness in the SOX which I now expect to go through its bottom at 240 or so. Readers of this thread know that I am expecting a second shoe to fall in Asia, and apparently it is falling faster than even I expected, with H-K, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines all at new multi year lows, and many other markets getting perilously close to such troughs, it is not surprising that we are getting a touch of the flu around here as well.
