Diane - a correction (I think) -- the handset you are talking about is probably a dual band handset, not (merely) a dual mode handset.

A lot of people (including some people asking questions during Qualcomm earnings conference calls) use these terms "loosely."

The Qualcomm QCP-2700 (my phone) has 1900 MHz PCS service and 800MHz analoq service. That's two different "bands" on the spectrum available.

Jon.

"I just signed up for the 16.99 deal, and I was told that the first incoming minute is NOT free."

Hi Diane,
There might be some confusion on this point. I know that the first incoming minute free is not included in the "regular" $16.99 plan, but the Sprint reps I talked to both when I ordered and when I activated my phone told me that it was included in the special, limited-time $16.99 offer. I hope they were telling me the truth! If not, I guess I'll have to argue with Sprint....I'll let you know when I get my first bill.
