Thread, I've been on vacation and read an interesting article in Fortune written by Alsop. His piece contemplated that there will be no future to ERP once everything in companies become automated. I don't know his writing style well. I sensed that some of his stuff was tongue-in-cheek but it was clearly at least half serious too. It's an interesting piece when considering the extremely long term. The article might be online if you're interested. Thread, With all the discussion about valuation, has anyone run a discounted cash flow analysis on SAP? For those interested in gorilla-game valuation, that seems to me the only traditional valuation that might explain the value in context of gorilla-like thinking. If you have run a DCF analysis, what parameters did you use? Ibexx, I've admired your long-term view of investing in general and in SAP specifically. In that light, I wonder why you think someone who invests in a company that loses two-thirds of its value is showing bad judgement. I think of really large, short-term drops in the prices of stocks such as AOL, Cisco and Iomega (just a few of the really volatile stocks I'm familiar with), remembering that they have stomped the market over the long term despite those drops. Investors who rode out some of those dips appear in the longer view to have had supremely good judgement. Michelle, No need to visit Katrina's tailor. But if you do, be sure to also hire her photographer, Richard Avedon. :) Hang in there. This is generally an open-minded, very nice group of people here. I think you'll come to like them and vise versa. --Mike Buckley
