Wouldn't coins be more practical for this purpose?

I don't hold gold in my hedge fund partnerships. The managers I use may. I just think if Y2K causes panic, gold will soar and I will personally hold futures contracts as soon as the price turns up. I will tell my clients what I am doing and if they wish to join me they can. I don't want gold in my portfolio as a hedge, I want to personally make $$ when the price goes up!
