U.S. chain store sales up 0.1 pct - BTM/Schroders

NEW YORK, Aug 11 (Reuters) - U.S. chain store sales rose 0.1 percent in the week ended August 8 versus the prior week, according to the seasonally adjusted BTM/Schroders weekly chain store sales index.
On a year-over-year basis, sales rose an adjusted 7.4 percent over the last week, BTM said.

Sales were generally on-to-above plan for the week, with back-to-school sales performing well, the report said.

Retailers in the survey noted strength in sales of ladies apparel, hardware and electronics.

The weekly index has strengthened in the past three weeks, although it remains below its rolling 16-week trend, BTM said.
