Leaps are long term call/put options. the 2001 leaps would probebally have a 50% premium. IE the JAN 2001 @ 45 leap would cost you around $23 so if the stock is above 45+23=68 you make a profit, Other wise you loose BY JAN 2001. BY=you cal always sell the leaps before hand if you think the price has reached your target. The same way you could always sell the JAN 2001 @ 45 LEAP PUT if you think the stock price will be above 45 at that point. But down wise you still make a profit as long as the stock is trading ABOVE 45-23=22.
