ALL: Went to Year 2000 show in S.F. yesterday. Em.chips big.

Yesterday attended the big Brainstorm conference on Year 2000 for IT profs and came away with several thoughts/observations:

1. Embedded chips are a hot topic. It made me more optimistic about TAVA. The head of California's IT said it was the big unknown and they haven't got the data in yet. Totally untapped. Heard this a lot. Made me feel MUCH better about future em. chip business.

2. Spoke to Dr. Ed. Yardeni briefly and heard his excellent talk. He still calls for 70% recess. but said (publically) that he privately thinks it could be worse but wants to stick to pure numbers and analy. not his instincts. 60 minutes taped his talk!!

3. Spoke to founder and CEO Emeritus of VISA. He said the market is a "Casino and a house of cards" thinks y2k will topple the market.

4. Heard connie morella's talk. She is a true nothing. Extraordinarily unimpressed.

5. Tava person speaking on em. chips on thursday but will not be attending.

Best to all, Ivan1
