Great news! tell me, _where_ did you read that, my friend ?

Uhm, did you know the ppro does actually exist in 512k and 1 meg of L2 ?? the 512k did not even cost much, just before they were taken out of sales...

So system managers would hardly notice ANY increase in system performance...they got the same mobo, (old probably...FX if their lucky), same memory, same fpu > but with mmx wich uses the same l1 cache and instruction caches, thus de-speeding the fpu < , and HALF the L2 speed,...while they *maybe* got 256 instead of 512k, but most people upgrading from ppro to ppro overdrive, are ex-high end servers, and those allready had 512k or sometimes 1meg l2 cache....
