>>Too much fear about Asia and weakening corporate earnings...<<

Corporate earnings, I've read, are not as bad as one might
imagine. Time will tell. Last quarter earnings were greatly
affected by inventory problems. The first and 2nd quarters,
IMO, should be averaged out, and the third quarter will
do well provided we don't have global catastrophe.

I've also read, that excluding energy stocks (oil companies
primarily) and chip companies, the average earnings growth
was around 10%.

"fear about Asia"...the $ is getting much stronger against
the Yen. There is still a lot of ways the results can
twist and turn. Sure there is fear, but a crash, IMO,
would be deriving too much out of it. Domino bank
failures due to Indonesia and other countries declaring
soverign debt...we will have to wait and see. I would
think the US banks have had since last year, to prepare
for this possibility. Japan banks...who cares, probably
the best thing that could happen to them.

China/HK devalue. The world has had time to prepare. It's
not like those countries have been doing the global economy
anything good lately. IMO, it can only get worse for
their own economy, but ours has had time to be adapt.
Also, in the long run, currency devaluation for China/HK
is a good thing. Right now, it depends on how it unravels.

IMO, it's too early, to write off the
stock market. I think that maybe we will get some more
correction that creates buy opportunities (we're already
in one right now), but 10% more is stretching it.

Only $24 ? I think you can buy one share COMS and get one free in October. Seriously, Dow Jones, Nasdaq, and S&P 500 all three major indices have broken their long term support level.

Bought 3Com at 27 1/4 today, will hold until its earning comes out. I think market's short term correction could be over.

In regarding to my post Message 5467747, the point I am trying to make is the market could be melted down in October.
