To all, I bought my first third of AMAT puts today, the Jan 30s. Although I love the idea as an investor, as a trader I guessed wrong, expecting the spin to carry the stock up today. But, what's an eighth or two in the gross overvaluation of this stock?

For those who want a chuckle, this is a quote from Kiplinger's article, "15 Stocks for the year 2000" published in May 1995:
"Once the fab building boom slows, the equipment industry also faces slower growth. But AMAT should weather the shakeout easily due to its diversity and strong research and development budget."
Really????? -g- BTW, the eps were projected to grow at a 24 pct. annual rate over the next 5 years.

However, Kip's predictions haven't done too badly so far. Pfizer and J&J made up for a lot of the losers among the other 13.
