NAPIER SIGNS K-G PACKAGING AND ICI FOR MANUFACTURING AND MARKETING OF ITS ENVIRONMENTALLY BENIGN PAINT STRIPPERS AND DEBUTS 3 NEW PRODUCTS Article #: 21192 Date: 8/11/98 2:47:30 PM Dateline: VANCOUVER, B.C. Stock Symbol: NIR Wire: ISDN Napier International Technologies Inc. (NIR.TSE). As Chairman and CEO it is with great pleasure that I share with our staff and marketing and technical teams in announcing the signing of K-G Packaging, a Division of CCL Industries, and ICI, one of the world's largest chemical companies, who will play strategic roles in the global launch for Napier's line of environmentally friendly cleaners and strippers. This accomplishment comes after several long months of product testing and negotiations with technical and marketing teams from within our new found partners. In addition to the two major agreements Napier is pleased to announce the launching of a new product that is expected to play a significant role in the home renovation market. Firstly, Napier has secured the services of K-G packaging, a Division of CCL Industries Inc. CCL is one of the largest contract chemical packagers in the world. K-G Packaging is a world leader in custom manufacturing of aerosol and specialized liquid products such as Napier's SV-35 Series and packages under private label for national and international distributors such as Canadian Tire and Wal-Mart. CCL has production and packaging facilities in Canada, U.S., U.K., and China. K-G Packaging can provide Napier and its distributors significant packaging and production capacity for an aggressive launch of its products. As importantly, K-G has completed and approved all testing requirements for the packaging of Napier's SV-35 OA paint stripper in a spray can form. The introduction of a spray can application will provide significant leverage for Napier's entry into the $95 million per year retail market estimated for home renovations and do-it-yourselfers in the United States. The SV-35 OA product is a uniquely formulated stripper with a pH of 8 to 9 falling on the alkaline side of the pH scale. The product is not only extremely effective for the removal of most architectural coatings including alkyd, latex, urethane, varathane, and primer coatings, it is also believed to be one of the only effective strippers that will not burn human skin on contact and does not emit any hazardous, toxic or offensive fumes or odors and is 100% biodegradable. The spray can application simplifies the stripping procedure for most home market renovations and is expected to be the leading seller of Napier's products for this market area. The association with K-G will enable Napier to offer 1 litre, 4 litre, 20 litre, and 205 litre packaging sizes of its various products to distribution outlets, as well as the newly available 340 gram spray can. Not to be Overshadowed Napier has also successfully concluded the first stage of its global marketing arrangement with ICI Canada Inc., a member of the ICI World Group of Companies and recognized as the largest coatings company in the world. ICI is represented in 163 countries and has more than 15,000 distribution outlets worldwide for its products. The deal which will commence roll out in Canada has granted ICI Canada Inc. a range of rights to market several of Napier's leading cleaning and stripping agents. In addition to the SV-35 Series of strippers is the official debut of a heavy industrial compound named Blitzolve(TM) which is a high end aggressive stripping agent for niche markets and a remarkable cleaning formula named Plexi-Plus Graffiti Remover. The Plexi-Plus is designed specifically to clean without scratching or altering the optical properties of Plexi glass. As an added benefit the product will also clean most types of graffiti including spray can paints from a wide variety of surfaces. The uniqueness of this product is evident when witnessing a spray can graffiti being removed from other painted surfaces without affecting the original coating. ICI has been granted a two year exclusive marketing and private labeling right in Canada for heavy industrial applications of the products. In addition ICI will have a non-exclusive right to market into all other market sectors with the exclusion of both the marine and aeronautical industries. ICI will begin placing orders immediately to stock its Canadian warehouse locations making available products for over 875 independent stockists, Canadian stores and Canadian Consumer outlets. The companies have also agreed to play specific roles in an aggressive education program to enlighten the several thousand marketing and sales representatives within the ICI network. In regards to this, Napier has obtained from ICI a 12-page Technical Newsletter that specifically documents the findings and case histories for the uses of Napier products. The document clearly demonstrates a high level of field testing and product due diligence carried out by ICI. This document will be available for review on Napier's website in a short while or a copy may be obtained by calling Jason Cubitt at the corporate office - 604-801-6664. As further assurance of the commitment to Napier, ICI Devoe Coatings will endeavor to replace its existing line of "unfriendly" chemical strippers with the Napier products and has further agreed not to sell any product similar to or which performs in a similar manner as the SV-35 Series which hosts a unique combination of a patented lifting process and environmentally friendly composition. Formal discussions are underway with ICI for a global marketing arrangement which would provide access for Napier products to over 15,000 stockists worldwide which are currently supplied by ICI Coatings Division. The addition of the SV-35 OA spray can packaged by K-G as described above is expected to play an integral role in the ICI marketing program, since ICI owns the retail paint outlets; Color Your World, Glidden and Dulux Paints. Looking Forward Napier International Technologies has entered into formal discussions with K-G packaging who will also obtain certain world marketing rights to represent and market certain Napier products under its "Crown" product line. K-G has strong ties to all extremely wide range of marketing organizations and distribution outlets through its private labeling division such as Canadian Tire and Wal-Mart. In addition, Napier has requested pricing from CCL United Kingdom production facility to prepare for European distribution. The closing of these two cornerstone relationships will now permit Napier to aggressively move forward with numerous other distribution channels. The Company has received formal proposals from more than a dozen international organizations seeking marketing opportunities in Korea, Taiwan, China, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, and South America. Many of these requests were temporarily sidelined until Napier was confident that we could supply product internationally and that certain marketing rights would not be in conflict with the efforts of ICI and K-G. On a final note the Company has continued to make impressive strides through its internal marketing efforts to the North American airline industry. Napier has now become a supplier to more than sixty aircraft refurbishers in the United States and is closing an average of more than 10 new customer accounts per month.
