JF,

None of the writings of the NT are by Jesus. Very strange, considering that the NT is supposed to be the word of God, and Jesus the son of God. There is a preponderance of writings by Paul however, not a very noble individual in my book, as the source and prime example of much of the bigotry and prejudice in the subsequent history of the church. As for editing, the whole long process of deciding what writings constitute "the word of God" was mainly what I had in mind. Personally, I would make some room for modern day prophets.
