Jim,

Your post prior to mine. AMZN has nothing to do with anything. Totally random including their business model. The proof is in the market action;-)

Ultimately, a stock is driven short-term by the laws of supply and demand - almost regardless of everything else. Maybe some controversy and heated debates about the valuation actually help to increase awareness that drives up the stock even further. A significant factor is the effect of retail brokerages who push stocks based on how well they have done and how much stock the brokerage has sitting in its account ready to be sold off. In this case, I expected Amazon.com to get a rise from the GeoCities IPO. Since Amazon.con has an exclusive agreement to pay GeoCities to advertise on their portal, the brokers are pumping up Amazongonenuts.com along with GCTY. For emotionally driven darling stocks it doesn't take much of a catalyst to drive them up. A few hundred extra retail buyers coming from brokers recommendations is all that is needed to add more fuel to the fire. The timing was right for a technical rebound in the stock even though general market conditions are not favorable.

I think that this is an excellent time to start to sell into the move up. My guess is AMZN should reach a peak tomorrow or by mid-morning on Thursday. Time to get bets placed.
