On the surface Conner looks crazy. On second thought, if RDRT or another head manufacturer can really deliver a 15 gig single platter capacity component using GMR technology, and storage demand on the desktop doesn't increase too much, he might have something here. Certainly fits your idea of no vertical integration.
A virtual disk drive company with no marketing expenses, tightly run, leeching technological advancements of their suppliers, I like it.

YEAH.. Conner drivers were the most durable rock solid things around (before they got distract with the Seagate buyout)..

I still have an old 425MB Conner that I carry around in my jacket pocket (it's a 3.5" model). A big zip disk really ;-)... 6-8 years old and still as solid as brand new.
