Ooops, Guess I've got mud on my face. Apologies for "going off" on you.

As for Kevin Kennedy - he's a great asset to CSCO however I don't think one man can win the war...assuming there is a war to be won. Again, I'll reiterate my position which is both LU and CSCO will succeed in the upcoming convergence build-out. What I do think is dangerous is what appears to be a lack of respect for what CSCO is planning to do in the data/voice space. If LU's exec's hold the same contempt for CSCO as some of the LU threaders (which I don't think they do) then LU could be in a world of hurt. Hey, they already accidently threw a ball at the bee hive with their lawsuit already.

I know many on this thread called the countersuit "laughable"...and that CSCO's position that LU is slowing down innovation with their suits was a joke..that CSCO would do the same. Here's the deal...and what I think Chambers meant...The one thing that will make us all wealthy is increased valuations in the stocks we hold. What makes these companies succeed??? SALES!!! What is a given about carrier customers??? They don't buy equipment if there is confusion about standards or ownership rights of technology. If the industry is thrown into a whirlwind of lawsuits the carriers will slow deployment which will stifle growth of the internet and more importantly of our holdings. CSCO and other data communications companies have come together multiple times through "forum" environment to agree on implementations of techologies such as Frame Relay, ATM, Voice over IP etc... These implementations and any royalties due were to be put on the table during these forums...which LU was a participant at. So, the lawsuits filed by LU will likely be viewed at frivolous...will be struck down and for what???

Uh....welll..... I guess I went off on a rant there. Back to the issue at hand... Kevin will help CSCO succeed in data voice convergence. It's up to LU to react or not. And again when I say react I mean compete - not go crying to the government about a patent they had 7 or more years ago for a technology that has been deployed in networks for years. Kinda late I think.
