Re -- Cisco will have to get to grips with offering fault tolerant SS7 platforms to carriers in order to achieve their aim of beating the NTs LUs..

In addition, they will have to familiarize themselves with the incumbents equipment too. Migrating from a purely voice to a voice/data network wont be done in a couple of years (a decade is more likely, given the existing infrastructure and the need for 99.99% reliability -- unavailable in current data networks) and a compelete solution (including legacy voice networks) will become an important criteria in the carriers selecting an equipment provider.
