The Asian flu is a problem but that will eventually work out. Japan wasn't number one for the longest time for nothing. In the meantime, this situation creates other types of opportunities. China is doing everything possible to avoid devaluating their yuan. I'm hopeful they will be successful (that could be naive). I am much more worried about the superheated US stock market whose valuations are extremely high and rests on an economy based on extreme debt. When foreign countries cash-in on American debt, as Japan could, look out US dollar and economy.

The Bank of Canada will not raise rates but rather will use market interventions as one way of stabilizing the dollar till more natural economic factors such as employment figures and productivity step in. Although there has been a slowdown recently, the CDN economy is still in very good shape with low inflation, robust manufacturing sales, and
acceptable unemployment figures.

I am confident that this is but a minor correction (is that REAL naive?) that allows for some good bargain hunting. Of the dozen that I constantly follow, all are now excellent candidates for buying after
being bargains 12 days ago when they were 10-30% higher.
