I agree that AMAT is probably the best positioned of its group.

However, I am not sure there will be an upturn for AMAT anytime soon.

It is quite possible that the company's best days are behind them. Memory prices will probably never recover to levels of even one year ago.

The only way to make up for this is for there to be a huge increase in demand that drives the volume requirements way up.

Cheap PC prices are here to stay, and the prices are going to continue to go down. At best, PC makers will be able to slow the fall in prices, but I expect dramatic price declines this Christmas season. Except for Dell, I expect the major PC makers to have a hugely disappointing Christmas quarter.

Everything points negative for AMAT, and as they said themselves "There's no end in sight." That's a long time.
