Trufflette, I just checked San Miguel's bio on the CNBC web page. He doesn't have one bit of experience when it comes to technology. I thought that when they got rid of that wimp Francis, who's now at CNNFN, they would make an improvement.

Technology is too important a sector to leave to someone who doesn't have a clue about it. You need to have experience to make any sort of informed judgement or analysis!

Anyway as Mark Edelstone (Morgan Stanley semi analyst) said last week "CNBC can be a dangerous place".

Regards,

Doug

Whatever happened to the former tech expert Bruce Francis? Do you think it's that hard to find someone who knows a bit about text and can read a teleprompter? It would be nice to have a real techhead be able to grill these CEO's and CFO's about line widths and other embarrassing details.

Matt

Here's another mistake in describing what the company does:

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) -- Applied Materials Inc.
(Nasdaq:AMAT - news), hammered by Asia's troubled
economies and tough times in the semiconductor industry,
saw its third-quarter profit fall 75 percent. Results also

reflected a restructuring charge of $35 million.
The company, the largest producer of equipment that makes silicon wafers, earned $47.5
million, or 13 cents a share on a diluted basis,

Since when did they start competing with MEMC and SEH?
