To all: Time to get this thread goin' again. comp.software.year-2000 newsgroup started a small discussion yesterday re: buying puts on the indices. cory hamasaki came forward with a few IT related dates that might be turning points. His post is under the header OT: Markets Go Postal, 08/11/98 6:21 p.m. Another poster has been tracking DJIA LEAPS and another suggests an OEX strategy. Interesting reading. "flatsville"

Thanks for the link. Now one question for those still in Y2K denial.

Exactly how would companies deal with a nationwide "power cut"??

Geezus!!! I love how Merrill uses double speak to downplay this issue. The basically admitted the problem would be severe (eg:power cut), but worded it in a way to make it sound like it would be a mere hiccup without actually stating that.

Watch out for creative legalize in these writings. They are full of loopholes and ambiguities.
