Michael, a lot of tiny companies are run primarily for the benefit of managers rather than for the benefit of shareholders. This is more prevalent the smaller the market cap, and the less prestigious the stock listing.

High risk factors would include a market cap below $30 M, and a listing on the bulletin board or pink sheets in the US, or on the Vancouver stock exchange in Canada.

This particular Nasdaq stock has a market cap of $400, yet it looks and feels like a $30 M stock on the VSE. That's what I find to be noteworthy.

the gaps often exhibited at the open by this stock are attributable to trading in Germany. Quotes in Germany can be found here:

Looking at it this morning, when both the US and German trading were underway, I see that the German stock trades at 16.90 DM = 9.54 USD, whereas simultaneous trading in the US is at 9 3/8. It looks like there's about $0.16 of discrepancy. I don't know if it's enough to try to arbitrage, though.
