It's interesting. The great majority of the time such rumors turn out not to be true, at least in the predicted time frame. However, the lure of short term profits (should the rumor prove true) is so great that we buy. Of course even if only 1 in 4 of the rumors turns out to be true, we may do very well. So we wait and hope.

HDIE is better than most in this regard since its long term prospects are very bright. But then, as you said, we would be holding a good bit less if we were thinking only long term.
