<<Firstly, who is everyone. I realise that many on SI are bearish, but when I talk to the average investor they are more optimistic, but not overly optimistic. >>

By everyone, I mean the general observation I get from people both IN the investment industry, retail investors and online stuff like SI. You are correct that Joe Q Public doesn't realize that their 401K is down 10% or more in the last few weeks.

BTW...you wanna see "F-ugly"..take a peek at the IBD page B1.
See that IBD Mutual Fund Index....now take a look at the funds that make up that Index and see the variance in performance and the negative performance YTD. This is why FredE is a born again Index guy. When you buy one of these so called quality growth funds you just don't know what your going to get come NAV time after the close, while with an Index tracking fund...you have a pretty good idea where your going to land. Nothing I've hated more over the last few years than checking prices from a previous "good" day and seeing a growth fund I owned flat when the market just had a 1% move.
