Thean,

what are your thoughts on SEV at this point?

Thean,
They way I do it only works when the Domain Name Server is up, which means you've got to do it before you need it. To prepare for the inevitable, when everything is working OK (assuming you're using Windows 95/98):
Open a DOS window. At the prompt enter:
ping the.siteyouwant.nam
(e.g. ping talk.techstocks.com) response will be:
Pinging the.siteyouwant.nam [nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn] with....
The magic URL you seek is the number in brackets, record it or create a bookmark. Don't worry if the request times out, the URL is still OK. I've been editing more and more bookmarks to replace domain names with URL's 'cause it seems a lot faster too (you don't have to wait for a busy DNS server to resolve the URL).
Interestingly enough I just re-did that exercise for talk.techstocks.com and got a different URL than the one I posted earlier. My old SI bookmark was 207.183.154.206
but today my ping is returning 206.253.217.14. I can't explain the difference but both seem to work. Maybe I'm pinging a mirror site?
Anyway, I hope y'all were able to follow that. Let me know if I need to try again.
