For every seller there is (hopefully) a MM buyer, and for every buy there is a MM seller. Unless of course there are plenty of buyers so that the MMs can filter the shares through. A sell that someone may do, could be purchased by a MM to sell at a higher price later, but ultimately hurts the upward momentum in the short term.
