Bob and others,

I know some FDC lovers who are advising their clients to short CKFR.

Hi everyone:

One analyst suggested me to short checkfree at $30 two weeks ago, ofcourse I didn't
short it but sold off my remaining position and now will buy it back at around 22-23
level. so much for a camel ride.

(P.s. this stock has underperformed the market i.e. S & P hugely YTD.
it qualifies as a laggard if not as a dog, IMHO!!!)

I was just stating my observation this morning. By no means I meant to be bearish on
the stock. I believe in it as much as you all do.

Only thing I have to caution you is not to be too passionate about the stock and fall in
love with it. afterall, CKFR is not the one which earns me bread & butter at the end of
the day. If at all, it has incurred me some losses YTD. hence I have learnt to be
objective and put things in greater schema/perspective and not fall in love with the stock.
i.e. to look at opportunity cost of my investments and relative performance of the
stock/portfolio.

thats all.

When I said that you were passionate, I was refering to your these comments. I know
that you are well informed. To you response to earnings, you may not care but the
market cares, and market plays on it. I also did buy some this morning but plan to sell
them on befor the announcement. The key would be the guidance mgmt. gives for the
second half and beyond. If they are bullish, I will jump back in on next monday, i.e the
week of 17th, even if It cost me a buck or 2 more. That's the phenomenon with this
sucker. There are too many SMART hedge fund managers moving in and out of CKFR
like this, and we sit here and master**t about it.

No wonder, CKFR goes down after the announcement, 'cause they meet the estimates

Whereas YHOO, LCOS etc. come in with +ve surprises although on -ve bottomline,

people reward them and only them as internet stocks, and not our CKFR.

...have any additional subtle-negatives to put on the table???

These were not subtle negatives... my friend, market knows more than the individuals

If this helps all you long guys...
This post is intended only for our friends who appreciate objective information and this
comes straight from WALL STREET,
--------------------------------------------------------------
FOR INTERNAL USE ONLY
Post CheckFree conf call. We will be revising our EPS estimates down to
the guided range (as we mentioned this morning) from 32 cents in 1999 to
the 12-16 cent range.
We will also revise our price target to $34-35 from $42.
While the visibility remains low for the next 6 months, and catalysts and
expectations are low, we reit our Buy as we do not believe there is a
managment execution story but a transition phenomenon as banks move to
web-based marketing from a PC-based marketing. Metrics: Stock is down 45%
approximately on a 20% guided estimate, lower on the revenue line and is
now trading at about 3x fiscal 99 revenue. We reit our Buy at this level.

This is from JP Morgan.he is being typical of supportive to the management. I respect
the guy but at this point, clients won't listen to him. hence he doesn't have clout to push
the stock up. hence the stock will trade in this range of 12-14 range for some days.
Also there may be a dead cat bounce tomorrow. It will take a miracle like AMEX or
something to drive the stock up from here.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
This is what i call objective view on the stock
