Brian,

I agree with you on the potential future rewards. But with the possibility that the recovery may be longer and weaker than many have been expecting and that things may get significantly rather than modestly worse, we return to the maddening question of whether we have further bloodshed to witness before there is enough blood in the streets to warrant a commitment to a bottom. The uncertainties around Asia, for example, may be fully discounted by current stock prices or we may see further declines as a story worse than people are currently expecting unfolds. Given the recent rise in many semi equip stocks, I'm inclined to think there may be a fair amount of not yet disillusioned optimism, but the difference of opinion is what makes a market.

If you have a long enough time horizon, you can simply buy and wait, but the market may significantly discount your wait from current prices.

Brian, you said >>Dead money? For the next 6 months maybe. For the next 2 years? Definitely not.<<

That's the way I see it. So then all depends on ones investment
horizon. If it's short - stay away or day trade. If it's longer
than 2 years - buy on dips and don't check the news daily.

Another view: if you're committed for at least 2 years, you
shouldn't care if the 100%+ gain comes gradually or all on the
last day.

Brian;

<<Once the word "recovery" is even uttered by Capt. Morgan, this whole sector will move too fast to jump on board.>>

I suspect we will have more then adequate time to realize great returns and do so with some confidence that a turn has occurred. For now, Asia still has me gun shy. I will wait and let the bottom pickers brag. I want to see some momentum.

best,
Stitch
