>>>I think you are on the money about IBM purchasing some additional database capabilities. Question is.... who? <G><<<

Well let's see. Would IBM be better off porting the OS2 version of their database to NT and calling it DB2/NT, or buying one. They have already proven they can call anything DB2. If you ever used the OS2 product, you have your answer.

Who has more experience on NT, SYBS or IFMX? Pretty easy decision from that vantage point. At least SYBS sells theirs.

Second. Who has more consultants, IFMX or SYBS? That is something else IBM wants. They had a quota of 20K additional consultants this year, didn't they?

Third. Tools. Who has better Web enabled and GUI tools, IFMX or SYBS? Well there is this PB stuff... Can't hurt to add these to IBM's arsenal.

Fourth. Gateways -- who has better gateways into the IBM world today, SYBS or IFMX -- I don't know about IFMX, but SYBS certainly can talk to all IBM's products.

Looks like this discussion is on the wrong thread. IBM isn't buying IFMX. Picture it, DB2/NT -- brought to you by IBM (courtesy of SYBS).

Hope SYBS takes the offer.
