I couldn't explain why no one else noticed ( if its even important), but then I can't explain the pricing for yahoo, amazon.com, coke, etc.

John, the rumors are already there. A stock moves up when there are confirmed final meetings among managers, legal, and the bean counters (which are leaked to the market). Bobby G. posted a while back RE the August WSJ SMART MONEY article which talks about buyout candidates and suitors. This has done nothing to the stock. People know about it, but just don't know when and how much. These are the key elements. Fund managers will not move large blocks of money to add to a position (usually >100k shares) if they have to sit on it for a while (2 - 3 months) because they can move it into stocks of other companies which are being bought within the next week or two. In their minds, holding "long term" like this is dead money. The information tracked down by Sherlock Holmes (aka Eric) is a tremendous benefit to us small investors. We now have much better information to make our investment decisions and to position for maximum returns.
