To all,

I need some help. I bought my first Mac on Saturday from CompUSA, I used to own an Apple II+, but was forced into the Wintel world by my employer. That's no longer an issue with the speed and emulation software.

Putting the system together was a piece of cake, and it was quickly up and running. The problem is a Modem. The sales rep at CompUSA first gave me an internal 56K zoomfax modem that turned out to be only for Windows systems (he thought Mac drivers were available, but it turns out they don't make them anymore). When I returned the modem, I was told that I would have to order an internal modem from Apple for $200 to $500, depending on the type (GVIL was $500). I don't want an external modem, and three PCI slots are available right now, plus Apple has some sort of other port I don't know anything about yet.

I think this is an outrageous price for a Mac Modem, so I asking anyone if they have data on software drivers for a US Robotics or any compatible and reasonably priced modem that works well. E-mail me if you like. TIA

Sam
