another re-cap of the Conference call last week, A good friend of mine put this together,(so this is not to my credit). This adds just a tad to Jack's earlier post: CONFERENCE CALL WEDNESDAY 8-12-98 4 PM EST Arthur Richey began the conference by discussing the three (3) watershed events that have occurred since the last conference call, those being: 1. The UK launch: a "stunning" event with wide spread accolades from prospective clients. HDS did a sterling job of setting the stage and were very professional. Apparently there were comparisons done between the Nucleus system and White Cross (a Teradata spin-off) and also Tandem systems. Nucleus was clearly superior. Much potential here. 2. The DCI conference- NYC July, 1998: Aaron Zorens from Meta group and Bill Inmon both gave keynote addresses in which they not only mentioned Nucleus but recommended it. As a result, all of their demo discs and those of HDS have been handed out. Also, their Web site was seeing a lot more activity. 3. Significant pick up in OEM interest: this Q is rollout with results showing up next Q and in subsequent Q's after that. Other areas of potential development include OLDP (On line Data Publishing) which Arthur described as inventory catalogues that allows customers to shop and buy from huge, frequently modified inventories of very large companies. Later in the CC he reiterated his belief that Nucleus had application in Routers and connectivity devices. AR then opened the CC up to questions. Here is a summary of the high points of the QA session: 1. All windows products are currently available, at prices ranging from US $600 to US $30-40,000. UNIX systems range from US $30,000 to US $2-300,000. The exchange rate has not effected their sales or impacted their bottom line. 2. SNDCF typically refers calls for larger systems to their partners per licensing agreement, but will take sales of the smaller units directly. 3. Because of the industry analysts, SNDCF is being "dragged" to trade shows and this is not good use of the company's resources at the present time. 4. 10 more employees have been recruited, including one (1) that filled a key position and AR described as the " best person for this job in North America." 5. AR voiced the fact he was "VERY frightened" about going toe-to-toe with the "big boys." He cited Red Brick, a company he described as " A good company with a GREAT product" that was devastated in the marketplace. While he did NOT compare SNDCF to Red Brick, he clearly thought there were lessons to be learned here. 6. AR said that in the clothing (Shmata?) business the ideal was to create a Fad and turn the Fad into fashion. SNDCF was only at the Creating A FAD Stage. 7. SNDCF has a reverse lisencing agreement with BRYO, meaning that SNDCF may sell BRYO products along with the Nucleus System. 8. HDS main frame sales remain STRONG. 9. There are large companies approaching SNDCF with various unspecified offers that AR would not discuss. However (IMO) these are real and significant and if the right one comes along AR would be tempted. He is not blind to the obstacles that lay ahead for SNDCF but on the other hand he knows what he's got and it is truly unique and valuable. 10. AR sees revenues (earnings?) coming on in the Q2 and increasing? Q after Q after that. He was somewhat vague on this point and of course would not offer numbers. All in all, a very positive and well-attended Conference Call. Next call in 60 days unless something exceptional happens.
