Briefing 08:55 ET: After closing more than two points above fair value yesterday, S&P futures contract -3.80 this morning, but was down more than 8 points prior to retail sales results from July... Ex-auto, sales rose a stronger than expected 0.5%, suggesting consumer spending remains healthy... This notion helping to offset the negative tone in futures trading which had resulted from growing concern over a ruble devaluation that has sent European markets tumbling... 30-yr bond -11/32 at 5.63%.
