AMAT was a set of initials that came up as did MOT, as did NEC as did a couple of others. He mentioned the problems in the track division and the short term problems with customers tweaking O.25 to 0.18 with existing equipment. He said interest in MIII was very strong and that orders were coming on the table. he told me about his recent travel schedule and I got road weary just listening. Papken is a dominating control within the company and is apparently either loved or hated. This figures strongly in AMAT interest.

I forgot to add that he felt that the switch to 300 mm would slow way down since the trend to low price PCs and servers was becoming a tidal wave. He indicated that 300 mm might not happen until after 2003.
