Tickertype-500 recharges is the result of technology improvements. I remember a Motorola spec of 300 recharges at 80% capacity.

Liquid electrolyte in canisters achieves 500 recharges at 80% with expensive Cobalt as its cathode material. Valence has achieved this figure at relatively high energy density with low cost Manganese Oxide as cathode material. The Batteries will probably do 1000 recharges at 50% capacity.

Customers will likely pay a premium for Valence's batteries because of the size and weight reduction and ability to mold it into a convenient shape while storing more energy.
