Ashton also has several small targets they have not even
begun to look at. Sometimes the small ones, while
low in tonnage have the most diamonds. There was a
small kimberlite near the Mir diamond mine in Yakutia
that graded 6 carats of gem diamond per ton of kimberlite
ore. This small kimberlite was mined out in two seasons
and was found by chance doing grid drilling, there was
only a subtle magnetic anomaly (negative) that was discovered
much later. Another indicator of kimberlite that has not
been mentioned is marls, or freshwater limestone. For some
reason it precipitates out of the kimberlite. There is a
showing on the Troymin ground south of the Buffalo Hills, in
Township 71, Range 23, West of the Fifth. I wonder if they
even know about that!
