this pattern in quite a few companies where there are buy backs going on.

L...

Broader and longer perspectives know when to let the tape work to their advantage. The stock market is there to service the interest of ALL investors.

all very reasoned and sound.

the fact remains, however, idly sitting on the sidelines when
a simple release would/could/should address issues concerning
ALL the shareholders, large and small...it seems it would
behoove a concerned management more to assuage fear in a
frightened marketplace, than "let the tape work".

as to price catching up with earnings...i don't think so.
would not such wisdom seems at odds
with guidance, for starters....

as far as buybacks at reduced prices, this has been reduced...
more than slightly for an ample amount of time.
were the price not deflated, the gesture would not be sought..
correct? i mean who would be suggesting buybacks if trading were closer to the high teens, for example...

long term, i realize we remain largely unaffected...but, L you mention
the market serves ALL investors. now who would be hurt here, if not
a particular segment of small investors.

LWolf, If that is the case, then it verifies my opinion that the Pfizer management does not care about its rank and file stockholders....Maybe we should repay their lack of regard for "the little guy" by pulling out our money..What these companies have not yet realized is that there is a tremendous amount of money invested in their stock by the small investors Pfizer and other large firms are taking for granted...The reason, of course, is on-line investing and the huge number of small investors who have been lured to the internet to do their own investing without crooked brokers taking their money...Unfortunately, Wall Street and the companies the small investor patronizes still do not respect the money coming from the individual investor...They kowtow to the institutions and the other big money houses while crapping on the little guy...What these arrogant pompous b*stards still don't realize is the tremendous latent financial power the small investor possesses...It is high time they learned!! They would soil their underwear if all of a sudden Pfizer took some heavy drops that were not "scheduled" by planned collusion of the traditional big money...
