More on the Dan Niles upgrade: news.com And on a different note, a minor player in the drive business seeks a buyer: Cerion seeks buyer, hires investment bank CHAMPAIGN, Ill., Aug 13 (Reuters) - Cerion Technologies Inc. said Thursday it is actively seeking a buyer for the company and has hired investment bank Advest Inc. Cerion provides precision-machined aluminum disk substrates used, for example, in computer hard drives and network servers. The company said its board of directors concluded that a small independent company may face unacceptably high risks due to the current period of overcapacity in the data storage industry. Cerion said it has a proprietary precision grinding system which it uses to provide ultrasmooth finishes on aluminum substrates, but the system could be used for other applications. Shares of Cerion closed on Wednesday at 12/16.
