I don't think SXI has any competitive edge over BC Hydro and their monopolistic likes. Synex has always worked in cooperation with BC Hydro which is only interested in developing large mega projects. So Synex can manage small power generation developments which BC Hydro would find a nuisance. For example Synex provides diesel generation for some Native Indian bands that are too far from the main grid to hook up, or can build a small hydro project cheaper in area than it would cost to bring in power on high tension lines. Generally BC has a surplus of power and many good hydro sites remain undeveloped until the price of power goes up or more deregulation takes place allowing independent producers to sell to costumers. This is why Synex needs to develop internationally, there are a lot of good opportunities in the world.

The software division seems to operate fairly independently and at some time may be involved in a merger or some kind of equity carve-out but there is no hurry, in the mean time watch it grow!
